CYCLING 2006
Gran Canaria 17-24 march:
We have also been cycling in Gran Canaria. Strong sun and heat made the long hills pretty hard. We did rent bikes and did join one arranged trip to Santa Lucia, very impressing nature, but rather boring, because the guide only spoked german and loved his own voice. After this we found our own roads. We did not cycle so many miles that we planned but we did se pretty much anyway. I can really recommend Gran Canaria for people that like cycling. I felt more safe in the traffic there than in Norway. The bikes were also good quality and comfortable to use.

17-18 june, Telemarkskanalen:
We took this trip this year too, but now Harald, Jan and Maarit did join us. We were incredible lucky with the weather and sometimes it was even warm. It is very nice to be a group and hope we can have more of these trips together. I did remember this trip as pretty hard last year, but this year it was peanuts, and couldnt find any of the hills I remembered.

16. july, Around Hurum:
Today we were ready for a really long trip. We choosed to cycle Grimsrudveien-Filtvedt-Storsand-Sætre-Røyken-Spikkestad-Drammen, almost 56 miles. It was a really tough trip, the sun was burning and there were times that I thought I could not cycle a meter more. And it is not easy to follow Svein, Harald and Steinar.

24.07 - 29.07 Voss - Drammen:
This year we planned a long trip on our bikes. As thought, then done. We travelled with train from Drammen to Voss, and then startet our long trip home. The first distance was from Voss to Ulvik. Svein did have a punction on his tires all the time, so we used much longer time than planned. And the heat was suffocating. The hills were long and hard, but after cycling in bushy forest the most breath taking wiev revealed, and we saw the most beautiful fjords and mountains. We stayed the night at Ulvik Camping, a very nice place. The next step was to Eidfjord, Vøringsfossen. The weather was amazing and the nature indescribable. Måbødalen was extremely tough. The heat almost killed me. Thank God for the Troll train that we did go with for a little while. I can recommend this trip! We stayed the night at Liseth Pensjonat, a very nice place, and very tasty food. Great cabins.
Then next distance was to Geilo, pretty hard until we reached Dyrnut, then it was more easy. This night we stayed at Geilo Camping, a worned place, with lousy bathrooms. And then the worst distance started, Geilo-Rødberg. I was happy without knowing what was ahead. These mountains were very steep, long and hard. The heat was not helping, but we made it. Smådøladalen is a fantastic road for cycling. The hill up to Uvdal was really tough, I was tired and my energy was gone. But then it went down hill. We slept over at Sevletunet, that is warmly recommended. Just remember to order food in advance. We had not done that, but the owner,Gro, did borrow us a car so we could go and get pizza. Beer and read wine she did serve, so the evening was a success. The next day we were going to Lampeland, a easy road to cycle, even if it is a bit far. We did get in to really heavy rain so everything got wet. So when we reached Lampeland Hotel it was lovely to have a shower and a good bed. The next day was the last distance, about 45 miles. I was very happy when I came home! I was extremely tired after this trip that was about 250 miles. But it was a great experience and I can warmly recommend it!
